The Atheetha Ashram has grown around Swami Sahajananda, the master who transformed many
through his love and compassion.
Being a true karma yogi, he did everything with joy and total involvement. Creativity was his very nature and beautified
whatever he did. His life was a demonstration of inner freedom, simplicity, fearlessness and love.
Swamiji cannot really be classified or categorized. He lived more in the hearts of the men. That was his world,
his field and his life. His life is really to be found within us, all that we have experienced from him and will
continue to. He really had no life of his own, for ever flowing like river, taking its course, where destiny would
lead him. His life was built around others and their needs were his needs.

For one such as him, there is no coming, no going. His times are eternal, for all that he stood for and lived,
belong not to him or us, but all of life through all times.
He still continues to live and will continue to build new gardens in the hearts of many to come.
"I personally know Swamiji and I found him to be kind, loving, generous and very spiritual man. His teachings
will surely be of great benefit, not only to the people of India, but also to the people of the world."
By Grand Master Choa Kok Sui,
Founder of Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga
Life Sketch of Swamiji
Swami Sahajanandaji started his career as a supervisor in a textile mile after completing his diploma in Mechanical
Engineering. His urge for a inner growth, kindled by a book called "Thought Power" by Swami Sivananda
of Divine Life Society. Swamiji used to say "I read it 20 to 30 times and was amazed to find the hidden potential
of man".
In order to experience these deep realms of life, Providence had provided Swamiji with opportunities to learn Hatha
Yoga and Prananayama. By the grace of Swami Sivananda Paramahamsa of Siddhashram, Pranayama became his favourite
key to unlock the hidden potentials.
The futility of mere survival rather than living was too much for him and one fine day he resigned the job and
joined in an ashram. There he came across a book called vegetarianism and he wanted to know more about it and joined
a course in natural living at Lakshmana Sharma's nature cure centre in Pudukottai.
Having experienced the effect of natural living on himself, Swamiji was thoroughly convinced of its efficacy and
simplicity. He wanted to spread that message to relieve people off their physical problems.
Thus his life as an engineer changed its course to a healer. He was one of the pioneers in popularizing this natural
way of living in Tamil Nadu. Many were cured from severe and chronic ailments like Heart problems, Diabetes, Arthritis,
Asthma, Ulcer and even Leprosy.
Life enriched Swamiji with more clarity about the end and means of life. He understood that Eternal Happiness (Ananda)
is the End (Goal) of life. To achieve this goal, healing, pranayama were only a means and not the end. This understanding
further intensified his thirst to reach the goal and means of life.
Swamiji's seeking for knowledge pushed him to learn about the wisdom from the scriptures under Poojya Swami Chinmayanandaji
and Poojya Swami Dayanandaji. Swamiji carried out an all India "Paada Yatra" and travelled about 14000
Kilometers in a year's time to spread spiritual messages. Through this experience and contributions, "Chinmaya
Gardens" was established and offered as his Guru-Dakshana to Poojya Gurudev Chinmayanandaji.
Thus the healer became a Swami and started healing many. The inner journey became effortlessly colorful by the
clarity of Osho's teachings! Later, Swamiji created many schools, ashrams and lovers around him.
His deep longing for Holistic approach made him to start Atheetha Ashram in 1988. Both Ma Atheetha and Ma Kaivalya
inspired by Swamiji's teachings gave up their teaching profession and committed their life to service and spirituality.
Swamiji started conducting health camps in Atheetha Ashram blending the inner and outer dimensions of life, namely
physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual and spread the message of Holistic Living.
His loving touch started healing many from their physical and mental illnesses. The health camps conducted at Atheetha
Ashram from 1990 helped many to understand and personally experience the marvels of nature effortlessly.
Swamiji's innate freedom and quest for a wider canvass paved way for the birth of new ashrams. Ramana Vidya Peedam
at Thrizuchuzhi, the birth place of Bhagawan Sri Ramana Maharishi, was established in 1990 with support of Sri
TR Dinakaran under Swami Ananthananda. Sampoorna Ashram was established with support of Sri NM Halan under Swami
Sampoornananda. Satdharma Ashram at Kolli Hills was established under Swami Paramananda and Maa Sashwatha.
He took another "Paada Yatra" in Nilgiris to campaign against cutting of trees in name of development.
Even in early 90s, Swamiji had deep concern for ecology, environmental protection and sustainable development.
He led and helped like-minded friends O.P. Bagaria and T.S. Ananthu and others to create "Navadarshanam".
It was an experiment in alternative systems like natural farming, natural housing, natural health and alternative
sources of energy.
Swamiji continued to be an avid learner all along. He learnt painting, calligraphy, acupuncture etc and did not
leave out skills even like masonry and carpentry. He was also an excellent and innovative cook.
Swamiji learnt Pranic healing and Arhatic yoga from Grand Master Choa Kok Sui. He was very ecstatic with Master's
love and had great reverence for him. As was his habit, Swamiji very sincerely and intensely practiced Pranic healing
and Arhatic yoga. He started taking Pranic Healing Classes and taught Arhatic Yoga to a selected few. He also did
Pranic healing for a lot of people and relieved them from their sufferings.
Surrender to Bhagawan
Though I was blessed to learn from many masters, it was only Bhagawan Ramana Maharshi's grace
that made me complete."- Swami Sahajananda.
During last few years, he was wholly with Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi, studied Bhagavan's works
and was immersed in self enquiry. Till the very end, even while suffering from cancer, Swamiji's only wish was
to be rooted in the self. Uttering the name of Sri Ramana, chanting his mantra for the last few times, he departed
the body in deep silence. Even in death Swamiji demonstrated all that he stood for. On 5th August 1993 Swamiji
attained Mahasamadhi and ended his glorious life.
